This is an extension of the ECG. The electrical activity of the heart is recorded at rest and then during increasing amounts of exercise. The exercise can be achieved either with the use of a treadmill or an exercise bike. Changes in the heart tracing may confirm the diagnosis of angina. The test may also be used to look for certain problems with the heart rhythm as some of these occur more frequently during exercise.
