This is simple test that measures the electrical signals from the heart by the placement of leads and electrodes on the chest. It is a routine investigation in most patients with cardiac problems. It can identify problems with the heart rhythm such as atrial fibrillation. It can also identify problems with the blood supply to the heart and can be useful in the diagnosis of angina and heart attacks.
