Arrhythmia
The normal heart rhythm is regular with a rate of about 60 beats per minute and is called sinus rhythm. There can be many abnormalities of the heart rhythm some of which are very common. They can lead to the heart beating too rapidly or slowly. Heart rhythm problems where the heart beats too rapidly are often treated with medication. They may also require the blood to be thinned to reduce the risk of strokes. If the heart rhythm becomes very slow then a pacemaker may be required.
